The Wild Duck continues its journey

Next week, The Wild Duck opens at Kilden Performing Arts Centre in Kristiansand, continuing an extraordinary journey that began at The Coronet.

Created in a co-production between The Coronet Theatre and The Norwegian Ibsen Company, Alan Lucien Øyen’s acclaimed interpretation of Henrik Ibsen’s masterpiece premiered in Notting Hill in autumn 2024 before travelling to Den Nationale Scene in Bergen, where it was warmly received by Norwegian audiences. Now, after returning to The Coronet for rehearsals this summer, the production continues its journey to Kristiansand before concluding with performances at the Oslo Opera House in the autumn.

This month, the company returned to The Coronet for an important final stage of that journey. Cast, creative team and stage management have reunited in Notting Hill to rebuild the production before it travels back to Norway. The set has been reconstructed, the lighting refocused, and every moment of Øyen’s meticulous staging revisited on the stage where the production was first created.

As performances begin at Kilden next week, they carry with them not only Ibsen’s enduring play but also the spirit of an international collaboration that places The Coronet at its heart. From London to Bergen, and now to Kristiansand, before arriving at the Oslo Opera House, The Wild Duck demonstrates the enduring value of artistic partnerships that transcend borders.
