Rada Lab Works 2024: Wednesday

A series of original theatre works from RADA’s graduate community. Shows included in this evening: The Jellyfish Enigma, OUT! and m(other).

Part of The Coronet Theatre and RADA’s partnership to present RADA’s MA Theatre Lab’s Lab Works.

The week-long project combines workshops and scratch nights, and culminates in a series of original ‘theatre-shorts’, enabling artistic development, public visibility, and new networking opportunities for these emerging artists.

The Jellyfish Enigma

Five strangers trapped in a room. No memory of who they are or why they’re there. What happens when the mind fails, but the body retains the echoes of the past?

The Jellyfish Enigma is a poignant, other-worldly mystery about memory loss and interminable love. With jars of jam.

OUT! is an introspective, poetic, and physical one-person show that explores the psychological archetypes and human psyche, inspired by the works of Carl Jung. The story revolves around a mysterious encounter with one’s own shadow and ego. What is this mysterious dark presence that follows us like a beast’s tail, constantly pursuing us through the realms of our minds? Do we know all the corners of our mind and its intentions?

You can close your eyes but remember that the hidden never goes away…

M(Other)

“I can no longer tell the difference between my arse and my face, now that I am the CEO, if you will, of a small human that was dragged out of me!”

Inspired by real experiences, m(other) reveals an exhausted new mother at breaking point, dealing with her birth trauma with as much humour and grace as she can muster with milk stains and goodness knows what else plastered down her shirt! You either laugh or you cry and this woman is determined to do both!

m(other) is a funny, tender exploration of what it means to be a mother in this modern age.
